Top 5 Best ODI Cricket Teams of All Time

ODI is the format of cricket which changes many times several times because of several reasons which are the reason for its fluctuating. Such as when powerplay first introduced in International Cricket, then the first 15 overs have become very entertaining. That time Sri-Lanka emerged as a great team in the captaincy of Arjuna Ranatunga and the opening of Jayasurya, became Champion.

Again when the T20 format was introduced, the powerplay loses its emotion because slaught overs became more important and ODI format get back to the old style.

Top 5 Best Teams of all time in ODI Cricket

#1.Australia (2000-2007)

Australia became World Champion in 1999 for the second time, they have been a little lucky because the Semi-Final of WC1999 became tie but Australia reach final because they are above South Africa in playoffs. In that era, Pakistan was the favorite but they just managed to be Runner Up.

After that Ricky Ponting became the skipper of the new Australian team. And after that, they lose very few matches after that. In the captaincy of Ricky Ponting "Australia" won 2 World Cup without losing a single match. Without any doubt, this is the best cricket team of all time.

#2.India (2007-2013)

India failed badly in the 2007 Cricket ODI World Cup, losing against Bangladesh India fails to make it to the Super8. The old players retired from ODIs slowly such as Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, and Sourav Ganguly.

After that 2007 T-Twenty World Cup happened, where India sends a young team and skipper as MS Dhoni. Surprisingly that team plays fearlessly and became Champion of the first T20 World Cup. After that in the captaincy of MS Dhoni, India won every biggest Cricket Tournaments - T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and Champions Trophy 2013.

India is favorites in the 2011 World Cup, but no team has won World Cup in the home country. But MS Dhoni's team make it happen for the first time. Later India also won Champions Trophy but that team includes most of the new members. And legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Sehwag were not included in that team.

This team never won any world cup, but include as one of the strongest cricket teams of all time. This team includes some of the greatest pacers - Shoaib Akhtar, Wasim Akram, and Waqar Younis. And that time best opening pairs - Saeed Anwar and Shahid Afridi. A similar team was in the arena in World Cup 2003 as Inzamam-Ul- Haq as their skipper but they throw out in the first round.

#4.West Indies(1970-1982)

West Indies was the only emperor of ODI Cricket in that era in the captaincy of  Clive Loyd, they won first two World Cups. West Indies make it to the final in 1983 but one of the surprising results in cricket history, where India became the first Asian Champion of Cricket World Cup. West Indies won the inaugural World Cup in England in 1975, defeating Australia in the final. Then in 1975–76 they toured Australia, only to lose 1–5 in the six-Test series, and then beat India at home two-one in a four-Test series later that same winter. It was in Australia that the quick bowler Michael Holding made his first appearance.

West Indies' deadly bowling attack of that era and Vivian Richard make it one of the greatest ODI teams of all time.

The present Indian team with few flaws is must be in this list, this team has few sad ending moments including Champions Trophy Final and 2019 ODI World Cup. This team includes some of the greats in history and the best bowling unit of Indian cricket history. Virat Kohli, Bumrah, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul is in ICC Rankings, make one of the best team of all time.
